CHECKMATE
Bruna Piantino Documentary | HD | 68’ | 2020
Checkmate, the film, uses the artifices of a chess match to demonstrate the power games inserted in the paradoxical universe of drugs and how each social actor involved in this plot thinks his move. The starting point is the model of cannabis regulation in Uruguay from a political, economic and biopsychosocial point of view.

Reviews
Checkmate [2020]: Cultural Evolution with Cannabis
“Bruna Piantino brings the good old discussion of the liberation of the planting and use
of cannabis in a society that has found the answers that Brazil insists on looking away from.”
Denis Le Senechal Klimiuc, Cinema com Rapadura
Checkmate [Dir. Bruna Piantino]
“In Checkmate Bruna's feature film debut, and right from the start it shows how backward
we are in public policy (or the lack thereof) regarding the use and/or planting of cannabis. “
Fernando Machado, Arte Cines
